I am extremely excited to be joining The Parras Family. I love math and am eager to share my passion for problem solving and creative thinking in this math intervention course. I firmly believe there is no math gene and I expect everyone to achieve at a high level.
I graduated from The University of Southern California, where I received a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Acting. After college, I ran a theatre company and worked as a substitute teacher for Culver City Unified and other private schools. During this time I worked with a diverse student populations in a multitude of subject matter. I soon continued my education and earned my credential from California State University, Dominguez Hills.
I have spent the last eleven years working at Summit View West (a school for students with learning disabilities) as a Teacher and Athletic Director. I have taught math from 6th grade to Algebra 2 and am proud of the achievements my students have made in the classroom. I am eager to bring my experience to Redondo Beach. My wife Leeza is also a teacher and our daughter Matilda has just started Kindergarten, keeping us on our toes. I am originally from Texas and love the Dallas Mavericks along with USC Football. I enjoy carpentry, arts of all kinds, but most of all I love sharing my love of learning with anyone who will listen.
The next few weeks will be team building within the class and a variety of activities to assess the strengths and needs of each individual. I will be accommodating students to meet the general education standards. We will be goal setting as a class and I am eager to more formally lay out the specifics of this course. The syllabus will be catered to the class, finalized, and sent home prior to Back to School Night. Until then please email any questions, comments or concerns. I am eager to get to know all of you better and cannot wait to learn together.
